TAPA Center to present workshop for mental health service providers in California and Florida

The TAPA Center for Jail Diversion, a division of the National GAINS Center for People with Co-Occurring Disorders in the Justice System, will present a one-day workshop on "Successfully Working with People with Mental Disorders Involved in the Criminal Justice System: What mental health service providers need to know," on March 3, 2004 in Marina del Ray, CA and March 19, 2004 in Orlando, FL.

Presentations will address how mental health service providers can assist their clients who become involved with the criminal justice system and also people whose treatment is at times supervised by criminal courts, including:

  • Who are these clients?
  • How does the criminal justice system work?
  • What are jail diversion programs?
  • What issues may arise for mental health service providers when people are mandated to treatment by criminal courts?

Advance registration must be postmarked or faxed by February 20 for Marina del Rey, and by March 8 for Orlando. The registration form and brochure is available as a PDF file; for more information, call the Center at 866-518-TAPA.
