Description:
The Norfolk County Mental Health Collaboration will address identification and provision of services for people with mental illnesses when they first come in contact with the criminal justice system. Their goal is to 1) reduce low-level offenders' further involvement with the criminal justice system; 2) reduce recidivism rates; 3) improve the lives of individuals with mental illnesses; and 4) improve public safety. The planning efforts will focus on creating a jail diversion program and providing education opportunities for first responders and for district attorneys.
