Description

The STAR program began in Marin County in 2001 and focused on incarcerated offenders with serious mental illnesses. The program's key components are: small caseloads, team approach, multi-disciplinary treatment, integrated case management and crisis services, and continuation of care after release. The STAR program will expand its capacity to 1) conduct jail-based assessment, planning and engagement; 2) initial case management; and 3) integrated substance abuse services.
