Many mentally ill in Buncombe end up in jail

2/27/10 Asheville Citizen-Times—Buncombe County's jail health system has a daily population of around 400 individuals, where, on any given day, at least 75 have a mental illness, county officials say. There is a growing concern among officials on how to provide assistance to these individuals in order to help keep them out of the jail system.
